All the yummy flavors of lasagna with none of the fuss!!
You can use any ”short” pasta, I prefer bow ties :)
whole tomatoes
crushed tomatoes
hamburger
bowtie pasta
garlic
olive oil
salt
garlic powder
garlic salt
onion powder
red pepper flakes
parlsey or parsley flakes
baking soda
Italian seasoning
onion
parmesan
mozzarella
ricotta
Sauce :
1 large can crushed tomatoes
1 large can whole tomatoes
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/2 white or yellow onion, finely chopped
1 tbs garlic powder
1 tbs onion powder
1 tap crushed red pepper flakes
1 tbs Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp baking soda (cuts the acid in the tomato)
salt to taste 1 tbs olive oil
In a large skillet, I like cast iron... heat oil over med and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook about 1 minute. Add crushed tomoatoes, with hands beak up whole tomatoes and add to pan along with any juice left in the can. Cook for 10-15 minutes, then add all seasonings. Cook on low/simmer for at least 20 minutes, but the longe the better.
Brown 1 lb hamburger with 1 tsp garlic salt, drain after browned… add to tomato sauce mixture at time of simmering sauce.
Cheese mixture:
1/2 cup grated parm. 1 small container ricotta cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt.. to start, add as needed
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbs parsley, chopped or dried parsley flakes
Cook pasta in heavily salted boiling water, about 8 minutes or until tender to the bite. Not mushy!!!
Drain and add to sauce, stir to combine.
plop spoonfuls of ricotta mixture over the pasta and sauce. Place in 450 oven for 15 minutes.
serve with green salad and bread
If you have to use jarred sauce, no judgement. Do what is easiest and most practical for you. If you need to add a pinch of sugar, DO IT. Eat food the way you like to eat it. Haters will hate on you no matter what you do.
